Our 5th grade students explored a classic science question today: Does air have weight?

To investigate, they inflated two balloons to the same size and compared them on a balance. Then they popped one balloon and observed how the balance shifted.

Students watched closely, talked through what they saw, and recorded their conclusions about whether air adds measurable mass. Lots of great discussion and “wow!” moments as they realized just how much invisible air can actually weigh.

Mrs. Ferlindes’s 2nd grade class is learning about groups, leaders, and rules! First, students had to figure out how their groups would choose a leader. They quickly discovered that choosing a leader is harder than it sounds! Each group had to come up with a fair and systematic way to make their decision. Now that their leaders are chosen, they will work together to discuss and create rules for their groups.
